, I responded to [100 BLOCK] Mark Cir. in reference to a domestic event between mother and son at [100 BLOCK] Mark Cir.
Upon arrival, was made with Ms. VICTIM . She advised that her son Brandon Crook, had been physically abusive towards her, and today while in the kitchen he pushed a table into her abdominal area, grabbed her by her wrist’s while pinning her against the refrigerator, and slapped her across her face several times. While viewing Ms. [VICTIM ]’s arms, there were several under-skin bruising and several small open wound cuts to both arms and wrist. I was unable to view any facial bruising to either side of her cheeks. Ms. [VICTIM ]’s stated that she is on blood thinners that cause her to bruise very easily and with thin skin would cause her to have open bleeding wounds with a simple scrape. I asked if she would be comfortable if I were to view her front and back, and upon viewing there were no signs of trauma. Her neighbor treated her open wounds on site and EMS was refused.
was then made with Brandon inside [100 BLOCK] Mark Cir. He advised that he and his mother did have a verbal altercation in reference to her mental heath along with her physical heath. He then stated that while in the kitchen, she began to “come up in his face” and began to attack him by swinging her arms. During this attack he put his arms up to deflect the strikes. Once he was able to get away from his mother, he went to his bedroom. Mr. [VICTIM ]’s also confirmed the blood thinners that his mother takes which does cause easy bruising and he stated the bruising on her arms was from her attacking him.
I then viewed two (2) blood spots on Brandon’s shirt, the first by his upper left bicep, and another by his right navel area. I requested to observe Brandon’s arms and hands for further examination, and I was unable to view any other blood transfers, nor any markings.
On another observance of Ms. [VICTIM ]’s injuries, I was unable to view any markings on her wrist or arms that would be caused by Brandon grasp, all the bruising were sparce and not in the shapes of hand/fingerprints.
I requested for Sgt. Meadows due to conflicting stories but with sustained injuries. While Brandon was reciting his story of events to Sgt. Meadows, he admitted to pushing his mother which then led to her barrage of swinging.
With the evidence of injuries seen, I do not believe that Brandon intentionally caused these, however while Ms. [VICTIM ]’s was on the offensive and swinging at Brandon, she caused herself the injuries due to her skin condition and blood thinner medication. Also, the evidence seen that there were no blood droplets on Brandon’s skin, only on his shirt that appeared to been transferred while in a defensive position.
Due to the admission of Brandon pushing his mother, he was arrested and charged with simple battery of an adult 65 years of ago or older, ([VICTIM ] is 66). He was then handcuffed, checked for tightness, double-locked and pressed checked, and incident too arrest.
I then transported Brandon to CCDC without further incident. Photographs were taken of Ms. [VICTIM ]’s sustained bruising and uploaded to axon evidence.
A CRN was generated for this event, and my BWC was active.
