at around 1415 hours Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch advised of a reckless driver speeding, swerving over the roadway and running vehicles off the road on US Highway 441 south bound and New High Shoals Road. There had been at least two other reckless driving calls involving this vehicle with all with the same complaints at other locations around the county. The vehicle was described as being a white hatchback style vehicle bearing Georgia tag [REDACTED]. The tag was run and it came back to a White Jaguar F Pace car and was listed as being owned by Marguerite Crumbley from Greene County. As the lookout was given I was traveling north on US Highway 441 between South Main Street and New High Shoals Road. I saw the white Jaguar heading south on Highway 441 and turned around to see if I saw any violations as described.
I followed the white Jaguar south on US Highway 441 from a distance due to a car being between me and the lookout vehicle. As we entered Bishop the car between us moved to the side of the road and I was able to get behind the White Jaguar. As we neared the intersection of US Highway 441 and Astondale Road the White Jaguar crossed a double yellow line and into the oncoming lane of traffic where the Jaguar remained for a short distance before the Jaguar got back into the left hand lane. I initiated a traffic stop by activating my blue lights and the white Jaguar continued on without stopping at the business parking lot across from Astondale Road on US Highway 441. The vehicle followed the cars in the right lane of traffic at or near the posted speed limit as the driver continued south. After the driver did not pull over I activated my siren first by momentary activations and then turning the siren on continuously.
The driver could be seen in the left side view mirror and there were instances of the driver looking back at me in the side mirror. The driver continued south on US Highway 441 into Farmington and made no effort to stop but with only occasionally turning on a left blinker to indicate the driver was going to stop but would continue driving. The speeds during this time were still at or near the posted speed limits of Highway 441. The white Jaguar would increase speed as there were gaps between the Jaguar and vehicles in front but would still return to speeds at or close to speed limits. As I approached the Morgan County Line I was told Morgan County was going to try and deploy spike strips on Highway 441 at Plantation Road. When we crossed into Morgan County the road opened into a three lane road with two lanes on the right side of the road which would allow the Jaguar to pass.
The Jaguar stayed behind traffic initially but as we approached the Apalachee community the White Jaguar passed the vehicles in front and accelerated to speeds over 100 miles per hour. When the passing area ended the white Jaguar slowed down and began traveling again at the speed of the vehicle it had come up behind which was near the speed limit. I was advised that a Morgan County Deputy had been able to deploy spike strips at the intersection of Plantation Road. When the Jaguar approached the intersection I saw the Jaguar run over the spike strips and we continued on past the intersection of Sandy Creek Road where the Jaguar stopped. Prior to the vehicle stopping Deputy William Reynolds caught up with the chase and when the vehicle stopped I stopped behind and Deputy Reynolds pinned the car in from the front at a diagonal angle.
I approached the driver’s side and saw the driver was Marguerite Crumbley, who I’d had with on 10/15/2024
after another chase where she had run from Oconee County Deputies (case # 2024
10000149). Crumbley was ordered out of the car and she refused stating the car was her property. I attempted to open the door but the door was locked. At this point Crumbley rolled up the driver window again refusing to get out of the car. I removed my expandable baton and struck the driver’s window in an effort to break the window but was unable to do so. I hit the rear left window and was able to break the window but I was not able to open the door. I hit the driver’s window again the window broke. I pushed the window inside the car and opened the door from the inside.
Deputy Reynolds and I were able to get Crumbley out of the car and placed her on the ground where she was handcuffed. Crumbley was walked to my patrol car. At this time it was noticed that Crumbley was bleeding on her hands and feet. Crumbley’s cuts and scrapes were minor and were cleaned using alcohol prep pads. Crumbley stated she had concerns for her dogs in the Jaguar and Oconee County Animal control was called for the dogs and the next list wrecker was called for the Jaguar. Other officers agreed to stay with the Jaguar and wait for Animal Control and the wrecker. I transported Crumbley to the Oconee County Jail without further incident.
While driving back to the jail I asked for National EMS to meet with me at the Oconee County Jail. When I arrived at the Jail we met National EMS who cleaned all known cuts and scrapes on Crumbley. Crumbley was turned over to the Jail staff for processing. While I was filing out charges I heard loud voices and saw three jail staff members struggling to put Crumbley in the restraint chair Crumbley was flailing around and demanding that one Jail Officer, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] keep her hands off of Crumbley. Crumbley insisted she would not allow [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to see her naked while she was being showered during the booking process.
While Crumbley was being secured in the restraint chair [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was holding his taser to be ready to control Crumbley if it became needed. Crumbley saw this and told [REDACTED BY AGENCY] if he tased her she would kill him. Crumbley was secured in the chair and placed into a holding cell. I spoke with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and saw she had red marks on her face and neck. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] told she had been kicked, hit, slapped and scratched by Crumbley. I photographed all the injuries as identified to me by [REDACTED BY AGENCY]
I watched the jail camera footage and saw [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in the shower room door and Sgt McCarthy get the restraint chair and push it to the shower room door. Crumbley came out of the shower room clothed in the clothing she was wearing when she was arrested. I saw [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and Deputy Simmons direct Crumbley to the chair and when she refused to sit down [REDACTED BY AGENCY] made her. At this point I saw Crumbley punch and slap at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and at one point she grabbed [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in the throat area and was then seen kicking at [REDACTED BY AGENCY]
Based on all these instances Crumbley was charged with Driving on the wrong side of the road, Fleeing/ attempting to elude (felony), two counts of Felony Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer and one count of Terroristic Threats and acts.

On October 20, 2024
, I, Deputy W. Reynolds 621, responded as a backup unit to Sergeant Holl 411 who advised he was initiating a traffic stop with a reckless driver. The vehicle Sgt. Holl was attempting to pull over matched the description of multiple previous reckless driver calls, a white Jaguar SUV. Sergeant Holl advised he was Southbound on Hwy 441 in Bishop and the vehicle was failing to yield. I activated my flashing blue lights and sirens. Sgt. Holl advised the vehicle was continuing. The registered owner of the vehicle was involved in a vehicle pursuit with Oconee County deputies on Tuesday, October 15, 2024
. I was aware the registered owner, Marguerite Crumbley, has multiple obstruction charges against law enforcement and on October 15, 2024
, punched and kicked at multiple deputies.
I continued south on Highway 441 to catch up to Sgt. Holl. The Jaguar continued into Morgan County where Sgt. Holl advised speeds were in excess of 100 miles per hour. Eventually I caught up to the pursuit and Sgt. Holl advised the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office successfully spike stripped the suspect vehicle. The Jaguar slowed down and came to a stop shortly after Sandy Creek Road. I positioned my patrol car at an angle in front of the Jaguar to prevent escape. I exited my patrol car and approached the driver side of the vehicle. The doors were locked and the windows were rolled up. I gave verbal commands for the driver, who I recognized as Crumbley, to get out of the car, and she refused. I struck the driver side of the window several times with my ASP baton, but the window did not break. I used a window punch tool and broke the front driver side door.
I continued to give verbal commands for Crumbley to get out of the car, and she replied “no.” Sgt. Holl made several openings in the front driver window with his baton. I heard a Morgan County deputy say he was providing lethal coverage. I unholstered my issued taser as a less lethal option. I used my baton to fully remove the front driver window and the door was unlocked and opened. The suspect still refused to exit the vehicle. I went around to the passenger side and unbuckled her seat belt. I also turned off the ignition to vehicle. I continued to give Crumbley verbal commands to get out of the car, and she replied “no.” I went back to the driver side where Crumbley was removed from the vehicle. I helped control her right side while she was placed into handcuffs.
A female and a male arrived on scene and stated that the suspect struck their vehicle, a black Toyota Yaris, on Highway 441 southbound between Experiment Station Road and New High Shoals Road. They stated the Jaguar approached them at a high rate a speed after they merged onto Highway 441 southbound from Experiment Station Road. The Jaguar passed them in the grass shoulder on the right, came back onto the roadway, came to a stop, went into reverse and struck the front of the Yaris. The Jaguar then took off and continued south on Highway 441. The male and female provided written statements. The hit and run wreck was investigated by the Georgia State Patrol.
The statements were scanned and placed in the administrative box.
