On 09-23-2024 at approximately 2056 hours at 1645 S Hwy 29 I, DS Marlowe, responded to a call regarding a fight in progress. Upon my arrival I met with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who advised me that on 09-23-2024 shortly before my arrival a Madison Brown had assaulted her, and stolen a beverage from the pilot. I was unable to locate Ms. Brown as she had left the scene before my arrival.
Per Pilot staff the following two paragraphs are true. Ms. Brown was outside of the Pilot near the Wendys section of the building drinking a clear alcoholic beverage with a golden cap. When asked to stop consuming alcohol by [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Ms. Brown walked into the Pilot, filled a cup with ice, and walked out. She then walked back in, filed a cup with a beverage. Pilot staff then asked Ms. Brown to leave, and that they were refusing to serve her. Ms. Brown then began acting belligerent, waving $2 around and yelling. Ms. Brown threw her beverage, a Sprite, and the cup at [REDACTED BY AGENCY], a Pilot employee. She then walked out of the building as she was followed by [REDACTED BY AGENCY], and [REDACTED BY AGENCY]
Ms. Brown then attempted to strike [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Seeing this, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] punched Ms. Brown in an attempt to protect [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that she knew Ms. Brown to carry knives and pepper spray, and as a result was concerned with [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s safety. Ms. Brown then grabbed [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s hair and pulled her to the ground, hurting her knees. [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s fiancé, also Ms. Brown’s ex-partner, Mr. [REDACTED] then approached [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and Ms. Brown in an attempt to mediate the fight. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that Ms. Brown pulled [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s head down striking it against the bollard outside of the pilot, and then pulled her to her knees against the concrete. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] did not recall this. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] started yelling “Madison stop”. Ms. Brown stopped, attempted to give her alcoholic beverage bottle to a Wendy’s employee who did not take it, and left the scene.
I spoke with Mr. [REDACTED] who advised me that he was outside of the Pilot, and Ms. Brown walked out and advised him that she stole a beverage. He then gave her $2 to pay for the drink, and she walked back inside. Shortly after he saw Ms. Brown fighting with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] outside of the pilot, and attempted to mediate the dispute. While I was on scene Mr. [REDACTED] was criminally trespassed from the Pilot by management, and left the premises on foot.
I gave my email to Pilot Staff and advised them to email me the security camera footage of this incident. I took pictures of [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s wounds on her knees which were uploaded to AXON evidence.com via the AXON Capture app. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that on a scale from 1-10, with 1 “being able to run a marathon” and 10 being “a baseball bat to the knees” the pain in her knees from hitting the concrete was a 5.5. Pilot management and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] were given a case number. Deputies BWC was activated and recording during this incident.
At approximately 2300 hours I was notified by 911 that Newnan PD was out with Ms. Brown on a separate call. I alerted 911 that I was enroute to this call. Upon my arrival, Ms. Brown had been detained by Newnan PD. She was escorted to the back of my patrol car and read her Miranda rights. I then asked her what happened to which she stated that she walked past the point of sale with a water after being told that she had to pay for it. She also stated that she was the first one to make physical contact with another person.
I then asked Mr. [REDACTED] once again what Ms. Brown stated when she left the pilot with the cup. He stated that she said they have to leave because they’re saying she stole the beverage. I then told 911 that I had one female in custody, gave my beginning mileage, and stated that I was enroute to the jail. Once at the jail, while waiting to book Ms. Brown in, I reminded her of her Miranda rights and questioned her further. She stated that she did throw the cup at [REDACTED BY AGENCY], and did touch her first. When asked why she left the scene and didn’t call the police, she stated that she thought she would go to jail.
Ms. Brown is being charged with Battery 16-5-23.1, Theft by Shoplifting 16-8-14(B), and Disorderly Conduct 16-11-39.
