On Friday, September 27, 2024
at 1824 hrs. I, Sgt. M. Ivey, was dispatched to the area of [600 BLOCK] Warthen St. in reference to a domestic dispute.
Upon arrival at 1831 hrs. I made with the complainant, [WITNESS ]. [WITNESS ] was working as an out of town resource after a storm and was working on the power lines. [WITNESS ] stated a woman came running up to him from the W. 2nd Ave. area crying and yelling she needed help because someone tried to kill her. [WITNESS ] stated he could see blood on the woman’s legs.
I then made with the victim, [VICTIM ]. [VICTIM ] was sitting on a golf cart at [600 BLOCK] Warthen St. with [REDACTED]. [REDACTED] stated that she was sitting with [VICTIM ] so she would feel safe until police arrived. I then spoke to [VICTIM ]. [VICTIM ] stated that her and her husband, Steven Bradford, were at at [200 BLOCK] W. 2nd Ave. and started arguing. [VICTIM ] stated that S. Bradford then began hitting her and then placed his hands around her neck, cutting off her oxygen, as he strangled her. [VICTIM ] stated that she feared for her life and was able to get away from him. [VICTIM ] stated that she then ran for help. [VICTIM ] stated that S. Bradford left the residence in his white company truck with Smith Farm Supply on the side. I observed several injuries to [VICTIM ] including bruising around the neck, a scrape on the left side of her neck, bruising on her chest, a laceration to the right hand, 2 lacerations to her right leg, a small laceration on the left knee, bruising to her right arm, bruising and a small scrape to her back, and bruising under her right arm. Photos were taken of the injuries and EMS was ed.
EMS arrived on scene and transported [VICTIM ] to Washington County Regional Medical Center Emergency Room for further treatment. I patrolled the area looking for S. Bradford’s vehicle and was unable to locate him. Shortly afterwards [VICTIM ]’s truck was observed back at the residence on W. 2nd Ave.
was made with S. Bradford, who appeared heavily intoxicated. S. Bradford stated that he and [VICTIM ] got into an argument and it became physical. S. Bradford had a small laceration to the left leg. Based on the physical evidence and testimony from [VICTIM ], S. Bradford was placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault Strangulation FVA. S. Bradford was escorted to WCRMC ER by Sgt. Knowles for treatment for his injury to his leg and then escorted to Washington County Jail where he was turned over to the on duty jail staff. [VICTIM ] was provided with information to Safe Haven and given a case number. I then returned to service.
