On 09/01/2024
at approximately 2008 hours I, Ofc. Medina, responded to the intersection of E. 33rd St. and Live Oak St. Due to the Shotspotter sounding like an exchange of gunfire between multiple parties, I responded with my emergency equipment activated.
Upon my arrival I canvassed the area for any victims, suspects, property damage, and shell casings. I discovered multiple shell casings on Live Oak St. around a silver sedan near 33rd St. I did not discover any property damage or any victims at the scene.
At one point, officers advised that a witness advised that they observed a silver or gray vehicle shooting at someone on foot before fleeing the area. Shortly after this Sgt. Bejnarowicz attempted to stop a vehicle which ultimately fled from him and crashed at Skidaway Rd. and Durant Ave. (See Sgt. Bejnarowicz’s supplemental).
I spoke with [WITNESS ] at [1100 BLOCK] E. 33rd St. She stated that she was sitting on her porch when she heard rapid, automatic gunfire from the corner of Live Oak St. and E. 33rd St. She stated that immediately after she heard the gunfire, she heard someone scream. She further advised that she saw three males in hoodies run north on Live Oak and a gray 4-door sedan drove west on E 33rd St. [WITNESS ] stated that she observed approximately 4 males holding guns out the windows of the vehicles as they drove off. [WITNESS ] stated that some of the guns held out the window were long guns.
Forensics came to the scene. I completed a crime scene log. Supervisors responded.
