On 9/5/24, I responded to [200 BLOCK] Plantation Cir. in reference to an ongoing altercation between a male and female. At the time of the 911 call, the caller, [VICTIM ], advised dispatch that her ex husband was damaging her vehicle.
When I arrived, I found both Mrs. [VICTIM ] and Mr. Patrick Seitz in the yard. Mrs. [VICTIM ] stated that the two had been divorced for many years, but chose to remain living together as roommates. According to Mrs. [VICTIM ], the two had been arguing for a few days. The argument started on this day over the keys to a 2013 Ford truck that was registered to both Mr. and Mrs. [VICTIM ], with Mrs. [VICTIM ] being the primary owner on the registration. Both parties each have a key to the truck. Mr. Seitz came to Mrs. [VICTIM ]’ room just as she went to bed and demanded that she get up and go get her copy of the key out of her car and give it to him. Mrs. [VICTIM ] stated that she did not have a problem giving him the key, however, she was already in bed and did not appreciate the way Mr. Seitz was speaking to her. Mrs. [VICTIM ] advised Mr. Seitz that she was not going to get up. At that point, Mr. Seitz told Mrs. [VICTIM ] that she would be getting up. Mr. Seitz then went outside and, using a slim jim car tool, attempted to break into Mrs. [VICTIM ] vehicle that is registered solely to her. Mrs. [VICTIM ] stated that Mr. Seitz was heavily intoxicated and she feared that he was going to damage her car. It was at that time that she called 911.
I asked Mr. Seitz if he had been drinking. He quickly replied that he had. I asked Mr. Seitz if he had a key to the Ford truck, to which he replied that he did. I then asked Mr. Seitz why he wanted both keys to the truck. He stated that he called and had Mrs. [VICTIM ] removed from the title earlier in the day. Both Mrs. [VICTIM ] and I explained to him that that was not something that could be done over the phone, and it requires paperwork. I ran the truck tag, GA: [REDACTED], through GCIC and it showed both parties on the registration. I advised Mr. Seitz that as long as the truck is registered to both parties, I could not make Mrs. [VICTIM ] surrender her key to him.
As I was speaking to Mr. Seitz, Sgt. John Watson and Deputy Jordan Melton arrived on scene. After explaining the situation to them, Sgt. Watson asked Mr. Seitz what would make the situation better. Mr. Seitz again stated that he wanted his key. Sgt. Watson repeated what I had already told him, stating that we would not be making Mrs. [VICTIM ] surrender her key. Mrs. [VICTIM ] then brought up how she has trouble sleeping most evenings because Mr. Seitz gets intoxicated and plays loud music. Mr. Seitz then began telling Deputy Melton to go to the back porch of the residence and see if he could hear the music playing. Deputy Melton advised him that he had no reason to walk to the back of the residence.
Mr. Seitz began making comments at that time that the law is one sided. We advised Mr. Seitz that we were not called to the residence over loud music. We were called for the dispute over the key. Mr. Seitz continued to say we were being one sided. Sgt. Watson advised Mr. Seitz that he needed to calm down because at that point, he had done more than enough to go to jail for disorderly conduct. Sgt. Watson was not able to finish his sentence due to Mr. Seitz shoving his wrists out in front of him. At that time, Deputy Melton placed Mr. Seitz in handcuffs behind his back. The handcuffs were double locked and Mr. Seitz was placed into Deputy Melton’s patrol vehicle. Mr. Seitz was transported to the Brantley County Jail and charged with Disorderly Conduct.
