On 08/21/2024, I DS Terrell along with DS Lamb was dispatched to [300 BLOCK] Council Rd in reference to an assault.
While enroute 911 advised that a female subject, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised that her boyfriend, Michael Burns, beat her. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that she was hiding in the woods with her son, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and that her daughter [REDACTED BY AGENCY], was still inside of the home.
Upon arrival units met with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who stated that when she arrived home from her daughters house, Michael was heavily intoxicated and began to accuse her of cheating. Micheal then started to curse and yell at her. When [REDACTED BY AGENCY] told Michael to get out of his face, he advised the children to go to their rooms. He then told [REDACTED BY AGENCY] that they were going to have to engage in sexual intercourse. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that he often likes to punish her with sex when he is angry. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] being fearful of being attacked agreed to have sex. During intercourse Michael punched, slapped and bit [REDACTED BY AGENCY] face and body. He also urinated on [REDACTED BY AGENCY] mutiple times. Once done [REDACTED BY AGENCY] cleaning up Michael again began to focus on [REDACTED BY AGENCY] grabbing her and wrapping both hands around her neck. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that she could not breathe.
Micheal struck [REDACTED BY AGENCY] with such force it caused her teeth to collided with one another chipping her top front tooth. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] also stated several times that her ears were still ringing hours after the strikes to her head.
When asked about Michael’s current location she advised that he was still inside of the home, but warned against attempting to speak with him stating that he threatend to kill everyone in the home and would kill law enforcement if they intervened. Michael had access to an AR-15 rifle and a crossbow. This information was turned over to the on duty supervisor who then activated SWAT.
At this point the scene was turned over to SWAT. Once SWAT took Michael into custody I transported him to the jail without incident. All further investigation was turned over to investigators.
A DFACS referral was completed.
