On October 10, 2024 at approximately 2218 hours, Deputy Broling and Kadinger responded to [300 BLOCK] Cessna Cir in reference to a suspicious vehicle. This is what occurred.
When Deputy Broling and Kadinger arrived on scene, Deputy Broling spoke with the caller, [REDACTED]. Ms. [REDACTED] stated that there is a dark colored truck that has been sitting out front of her house in the middle of the road for about the past three hours.
Deputy Broling approached the vehicle and saw a male sitting in the driver seat. The vehicle was a 2000 Toyota Tundra with Georgia tag # [REDACTED]. The vehicle was registered to Alvin Roach. Deputy Broling asked the male what he was doing there and he stated he was waiting for a girl to show up. Deputy Broling asked why he was there waiting for her and he stated she told him to go to [100 BLOCK] Cessna Cir. Deputy Broling got the males ID and he was identified as Alvin Roach Jr.
Mr. Roach stated he has been talking to a girl and she wanted him to go to that location to give her a $50 Apple card. Deputy Broling asked Alvin if she was sending him naked pictures and he stated she was. Alvin said she had him download an app called Telegraph to talk with her. Alvin showed Deputy Broling part of the conversation and Deputy Broling saw where she was requesting money from him. Deputy Broling asked Alvin if he had paid her already and he stated he has given her $50. Deputy Broling asked him if the $50 was for sex and he stated yes. Deputy Broling then asked for consent to search the vehicle and Alvin denied consent. Deputy Broling then went back to his vehicle. While Deputy Broling was in his vehicle, Alvin told Deputy Kadinger he had marijuana in the vehicle. When Deputy Broling returned, he was advised of what Alvin told Deputy Kadinger.
Deputy Broling then detained Alvin due to Pandering (soliciting prostitution). Deputy Broling then conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle due to Alvin stating he had marijuana in there. Deputy Broling located the marijuana in a plastic bottle in between the driver seat and the center console. Deputy Broling then located a small corner bag in the center console filled with a white crystal like substance consistent with methamphetamine. Deputy Broling then had dispatch contact the on-call narcotics detective. Deputy Broling then went to speak with Alvin. Deputy Broling read him his Miranda Rights and he waived them. Deputy Broling asked him about the meth he found in the center console and he claimed to know nothing about it. Deputy Broling spoke with Detective Ruedas over the phone and told him what he had. Detective Ruedas then advised Deputy Broling a short time later he would be coming to the scene. Deputy Broling then called for the list wrecker to come tow the vehicle.
When Detective Ruedas arrived, he turned the suspected meth, marijuana and Alvin’s cell phone over to him. The meth was field tested and it tested positive for methamphetamine. Deputy Broling then transported Alvin to the Whitfield County Detention Center. Upon arrival, he was turned over to jail staff for booking. Detective Ruedas will be filing the charges on Alvin. Deputy Broling wrote Alvin a citation for no insurance (OCGA 40-6-10) on citation# 319360.
