[NARRATIVE #1 on October 05, 2024]
On October 5, [2024] at approximately 0120 hours Deputy McKenzie and Deputy Phillips were dispatched to [100 BLOCK] Zell Dr in reference to a domestic dispute in progress. While en route dispatch advised the offender “Barry Amonett” left in a green Nissan Pathfinder. Upon arrival, Deputy McKenzie observed the following.
Blood was located on the front gate on the porch of this location. The front glass door was busted out completely. The glass from the busted door covered the front porch. Blood spots were scattered in the broken glass. Two fist-sized blood spots were located on the secondary metal front door. Deputy McKenzie then made contact with the caller “[VICTIM #1]”. She provided the following information.
Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated on this date her roommate “Barry Amonett” whom she has resided with at this location for approximately a year assaulted her. On this date, at approximately 0100 hours they both were lying in her bed watching TV. “Mr. Amonett had been drinking and arguing with Ms. [VICTIM #1] since he returned home from work earlier this date.” While they were lying down Mr. Amonett began grabbing Ms. [VICTIM #1] and became irate for an unknown reason. He then grabbed her throat and began strangling her. Ms. [VICTIM #1] attempted to get away from Mr. Amonett when doing so he grabbed her arm. Ms. [VICTIM #1] fought to escape Mr. Amonette and separated herself from him in the other bedroom.
Mr. Amonett walked outside of this location and Ms. [VICTIM #1] locked the door behind him. Mr. Amonett noticed Ms. [VICTIM #1] locked him out and began striking the glass front door which he finally busted out. Mr. Amonett was unable to enter the front door and moved to the other side of the residence. He then busted out the bedroom window and entered the residence. Mr. Amonette walked into the living room where Ms. [VICTIM #1] was located sitting on a chair. Mr. Amonette pulled his pocket knife out of his pocket, held the weapon in his hand while standing in front of Ms. [VICTIM #1], and stated “I’m going to kill you”, “I will cut your throat”. Ms. [VICTIM #1] told Mr. Amonette that he wasn’t going to do that and separated herself again. She then contacted the authorities and Mr. Amonette fled the scene in his vehicle.
Deputy McKenzie walked to the bedroom window and observed the glass window was also busted out. Blood was located on the frame of the window. [Ms]. [VICTIM #1] had a hand-width mark on her neck that was approximately 4 inches long. She also had a scratch on her arm that was approximately 1 inch long.
Deputy McKenzie was unable to make contact with Mr. Amonette on this date. Deputy McKenzie requested a warrant be placed for Mr. Amonette’s arrest. Magistrate Judge Phillips accepted the warrant application under warrant number W24-1547 for OCGA 16-5-21 Aggravated assault, family violence, and OCGA 16-7-23 criminal damage to property 2nd degree, family violence.
Ms. [VICTIM #1] was provided with a report number and a crime victim bill of rights form. All photographs taken are placed into evidence.

[NARRATIVE #2 on October 09, 2024]
On October 9th, 2024, Deputy Singleton was contacted by Deputy T. McKenzie regarding a subject with an active warrant for his arrest. Deputy McKenzie advised that he had taken a report of a domestic violence incident that occurred at [100 BLOCK] Zell Drive in Whitfield County {2024-05804}. The subject with the warrant was identified as Barry Lee Amonette, date of birth [REDACTED]. According to the victim in the incident handled by Deputy McKenzie, Mr. Amonette was believed to be working at a lawnmower shop next to Subway in Varnell.
Deputy Singleton then contacted the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Central Control Personnel and requested that the warrant for Mr. Amonette be pulled and made available. Once Deputy Singleton was informed that the warrant was in hand, he, along with Sergeant Brunson, responded to the lawnmower shop located at 3619 Cleveland Highway, Suite A.
Upon arrival, Deputy Singleton located Barry Amonette and took him into custody. Handcuffs were applied, checked for proper fit, and double-locked. Mr. Amonette was then placed in the rear prisoner compartment of patrol vehicle 23D155 and transported to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office Jail. At the jail, Mr. Amonette was served with criminal warrant number W24-1547 and left in the custody of detention staff. Deputy Singleton cleared the call without further incident.
