On 8/22/2024
at roughly 2300 hours I responded to a ShotSpotter call at the intersection of Pennsylvania Ave and Crescent Dr.
On scene other officers and I began to canvass for evidence of gunfire including victims, suspects, witnesses, property damage, and shell casings. No property damage or shell casings were recovered however multiple citizens had emerged from their s and advised us they did hear shooting but did not witness it. While on the scene of this call, dispatch received (2) more calls reporting gunfire to the south of our location on Pennsylvania Ave. A short time later a third call reporting gunfire was received from the Carry Hilliard’s located at 3316 Skidaway Rd, which would continue the trend southward of reports of gunfire. A call was then received from a female victim later to be identified as [VICTIM ], indicating she was being chased South from Pennsylvania Ave to Skidaway Rd by a silver Honda Accord, which was shooting at her. The call taker was unable to obtain further information before the caller disconnected. I cleared from the scene of the ShotSpotter and began to go south towards the call location.
While en route to the Carry Hilliard’s another call was received from [VICTIM ] who now indicated she was at the Parkers gas station at Skidaway Rd and Derrene Ave. Again, further information could not be obtained before the call ended. Units arrived at the Parkers but did not locate [VICTIM ] or the suspect vehicle.
Officers on scene then called [VICTIM ], who now informed officers she was parked at the Pump and Go located at Skidaway and E 37th St. We arrived on scene at the Pump and Go to find [VICTIM ] parked in her white Jeep Grand Cherokee, no suspect vehicle was present.
I then interviewed [VICTIM ] as well as another female who was in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, [VICTIM ]. [VICTIM ] explained that the suspect who had fired at and chased her was Nakeem Sams, her boyfriend of whom they share a child. Based on other details explained to me by [VICTIM ] I determined this to be a Domestic Violence case. I requested DV detectives to the scene.
Det. Kasemeyer then responded to the scene and took over as the primary investigator. For further details regarding this case please refer to Det. Kasemeyer’s report. I remained on scene with Det. Kasemeyer while he conducted his interview. During the interview, Det. Kasemeyer then informed me that [VICTIM ] had received communication from Sams indicating that he had just kicked down the door of [300 BLOCK] Noble Oaks Dr Apt [REDACTED], where [VICTIM ] and Sams 11 M/O child was, and taken the child. I then responded to this address.
On scene at Noble Oaks other officers and I identified apt [REDACTED]. Other officers had already made with the residents, who indicated that Sams had already left with the child. I then conducted a safety clear of the unit with other officers. Neither Sams or the child were found in residence. During the clear I did observed the front door to have suffered extensive damage.
Following the clear I then left the scene, ending my involvement in this case.
Multiple supervisors responded to this incident
