On July 6, 2024
at 10:44 PM I, Deputy Dillard was dispatched to a vehicle in a ditch at Highway 225 N and Ridgeview Lane.
I arrived on scene and noticed a rollback wrecker in front of a red mustang in a ditch. I spoke with the trucker driver and asked who was the driver. He stated that he did not know. He got a call from a friend stating that his friend was in a ditch. He pointed to the male on the ground hooking up the vehicle and stated that he was the owner.
Joseph Hill, the owner of the vehicle, finished hooking up the vehicle and stepped over to speak with me. He stated that he missed the turn at Highway 225 N and Ridgeview Lane and put the vehicle in the ditch. He stated that he walked back to his friends house on Fieldview Court. He stated that he stayed about an hour or so and while he was there he drank some fireball. He stated that he walked back to the vehicle to help his buddy put it on the back of the rollback.
I asked Joseph if he would do some test for me and he stated that he rather not. I asked him to place his hands behind his back and I placed handcuffs on him. I had him sit in the back seat of my vehicle while I sorted out what happen. Due to lack of evidence the decision was made not to charge him with DUI, however, he is being charged with failure to maintain lane and hit and run: not returning to scene of an accident.
Joseph was transported to the Murray County Detention Center without incident and turned over to jail staff.
