On August 19, 2024
at approximately 2103, I was dispatched to 4315 Ogeechee Road in reference to a domestic dispute that had occurred at [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Upon arrival, I spoke with the Savannah officer on scene and she advised that the incident had taken place in county’s jurisdiction.
I spoke with the complainant, [VICTIM ], who advised that her and her boyfriend, Kenneth Thompson, had been in a relationship for eight years and him causing her physical harm had been an ongoing issue. She said that tonight, that her and her boyfriend were talking in front of their shed. She said that she noticed he had a phone, and had confronted him about it. Ms. [VICTIM ] said that an argument then started and escalated into him screaming at her.
Ms. [VICTIM ] advised that Mr. Thompson then took his firearm from his holster and put it to her head and began choking her. She said that he then scratched her chest with the firearm’s scope, leaving a visible mark on her chest. She said that she was unaware if she had lost consciousness. I examined her eyes and there were signs of petechiae in both of her eyes. Photos of the injuries were uploaded to AXON capture. She advised that the firearm was brown and he carried it in his holster on his persons at all times.
Ms. [VICTIM ] continued to explain that she was able to get away from Mr. Thompson. She said that he then yelled at her that he would kill her if she called PD, and that he would also kill PD if we came to arrest him. Ms. [VICTIM ] advised that she was terrified and got into her vehicle to leave. She said that he then got into the company truck and began chasing her down the road. Ms. [VICTIM ] advised that he was being reckless and she was able to lose him while driving and parked her vehicle behind the Circle K and called PD.
Ms. [VICTIM ] advised that Mr. Thompson was most likely at or in the Azalea Trailer Park, [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. She said that she wanted to gather some belongings from her if he was not there. I advised her that Cpl Blackledge and myself were going to go and check her for his truck, or any signs of Mr. Thompson and would call her with findings.
I advised Ms. [VICTIM ] that his truck was not at and we checked the backyard for him. She arrived at the . After she put her dog away, I then entered the residence and did a protective sweep of the to ensure that he was not there. Upon ing the , I noticed several firearms throughout the . There were weapon parts on the table and bullets in all different areas of the .
After Ms. [VICTIM ] gathered her belongings, I then went and assisted Cpl Blackledge and K9 Spivey in looking for the suspect at [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Upon my arrival, they had detained Mr. Thompson. Mr. Thompson was then ed and placed in the rear of my patrol car. On his right hip was a holster for a firearm, but was empty. In the front seat of the vehicle that Mr. Thompson was in was a brown pistol that is believed to be used against Ms. [VICTIM ], along with two AR15’S, and a bullet proof vest. The 9 mm pistol was examined and it was determined that the firearm fit perfectly inside of the holster on Mr. Thompson’s hip.
While investigating and getting identification, Mr. Thompson began to beat his head against the cage of my patrol car. I advised him to stop or he would have to wear a helmet. While standing outside of my patrol again, he began beating his head against the cage again, this time causing it to bend outward. He then was advised that he damaged my vehicle and was being charged for it, and he advised that he wanted to die.
I then asked Sgt Day for the helmet, if he was not going to stop hitting his head against the cage. Lt Fields was able to calm down Mr. Thompson and a helmet was not placed on the subject.
Mr. Thompson was then transported to Memorial where he refused to have his head looked at. He had visible bruising and swelling on his forehead. Mr. Thompson was then transported to CCDC where he was booked and charged with Aggravated Assault, Battery FV, Terroristic Threats, Possession of a firearm by a convicted felony (3 counts), Possession of a firearm while committing a felony (3 counts, and Interference with government property.
See Cpl Blackledge’s supplemental in regards to detaining Mr. Thompson and the firearms. A County Vehicle Damage Form was submitted.
