On October 14, 2024
, at approximately 15:52 hours, I, Corporal Gordy, was dispatched to [200 BLOCK] East Wilson Street Apartment [REDACTED] in reference to a domestic dispute. Dispatch advised a third-party neighbor could hear a male, later identified as Dustin Corne, and a female, later identified as [VICTIM ], were arguing. Dispatch explained the third-party caller tried to check on [VICTIM ], but Dustin slammed the door in their face. Dispatch advised the third-party caller could hear [VICTIM ] screaming at Dustin to get off her.
Upon my arrival and other units’ arrival, I observed [VICTIM ] outside of the residence to the left of the apartment. Officer McKinnon made with Dustin at the front door of the residence.
I relocated to [VICTIM ]. I observed [VICTIM ] to be smoking a cigarette with black mascara smearing around her eyes, as if she was crying. I observed [VICTIM ] to be shaking uncontrollably. I asked [VICTIM ] what occurred today. [VICTIM ] advised her and Dustin, the father of their child, got into a disagreement. [VICTIM ] explained Dustin got upset because she used his truck to take their child, [REDACTED BY AGENCY]), to the park earlier in the day. I asked [VICTIM ] if there was any physical made between her and Dustin during the argument. [VICTIM ] advised there was not any physical made. I observed a large amount of redness below [VICTIM ]’s neck. I also observed a large red line on [VICTIM ]’s left side of her neck. I asked [VICTIM ] if the argument was not physical, how did she obtain injuries. [VICTIM ] could not see her injuries due to the location. [VICTIM ] advised she had been crying. I advised [VICTIM ] I knew she was not telling the entire truth and she needed to tell me.
[VICTIM ] stated Dustin had been very mean because he left his truck at the residence and she took [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to the park. [VICTIM ] advised Dustin began “flipping out” on her. I asked [VICTIM ] to further explained Dustin “flipping out” on her. [VICTIM ] explained Dustin did get violent with her. [VICTIM ] advised she was in the bathroom, putting mascara on, when Dustin confronted her about using his truck. While conversing with [VICTIM ], it should be noted I observed her randomly put one hand around her throat. I asked [VICTIM ] how did Dustin make physical with her since she has visible injuries. [VICTIM ] stated, “He like choked me and threw me down.” I asked [VICTIM ] if Dustin used two hands to choke her. [VICTIM ] advised Dustin only used one hand to choke her, then push her back as he was doing so. I asked [VICTIM ] if anyone was present during the altercation. [VICTIM ] advised the altercation occurred in the living room, where [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was sitting on the couch, and observed the altercation. While Officer McKinnon continued to converse with Dustin, I was able to take [VICTIM ] inside and meet with [REDACTED BY AGENCY].
I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] what he observed. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised whenever Dustin and him went upstairs to his room, [VICTIM ] opened the door. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised Dustin pushed [VICTIM ] out of the room and shut the door back. I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] did anything occur in the living room. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated, “Yeah.” [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised whenever he was sitting on the couch, Dustin pushed [VICTIM ] on the living room floor. I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] did Dustin ever had his hands near [VICTIM ]’s throat. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] originally began to ask his head left and right before stating “No”, then [REDACTED BY AGENCY] immediately looked towards [VICTIM ], then stated, “Well yeah he did.”
I stepped outside the residence to speak with Dustin. Dustin advised he called [VICTIM ] earlier when he was at work and she advised she was at the park. Dustin explained he began to ask [VICTIM ] what is she doing at the park and how did she get to the park. Dustin explained he left his keys at the apartment because [VICTIM ] said she needed the keys to lock the door to the apartment. Dustin advised he told [VICTIM ] she needed to come now. Dustin advised when he got , he went straight inside and asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] where his keys were at. Dustin explained [VICTIM ] told him they were upstairs and he went to get his keys. Dustin stated he came out to his truck, a red 2004 Chevrolet Silverado (GA tag: [REDACTED BY AGENCY], VIN: [REDACTED BY AGENCY]), and observed his trip mileage. Dustin advised he knew [VICTIM ] used his truck due to the trip mileage and the remaining amount of gas inside of the truck. Dustin stated he went back inside and confronted [VICTIM ] about using his truck. Dustin advised the tension was not high at this moment. Dustin advised he began to question [REDACTED BY AGENCY] about their travels in the truck.
Dustin explained [REDACTED BY AGENCY] would not answer his questions, so he placed both of his hands on [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s shoulders, then stated, “Son, you need to tell me where y’all went today.” Dustin advised when he placed his hands on [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s shoulders, [VICTIM ] grabbed onto his wrist, so he “flung” [VICTIM ] off of him. Dustin explained [VICTIM ] began to grab him, so he pushed her off. Dustin explained after that, [VICTIM ] would not let go of him and they began to wrestle all through the apartment. Dustin explained he told [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to go to his room, which he did. Dustin advised he went into the room with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and locked the door. Dustin advised [VICTIM ] “busted” through the door. Dustin advised he threatened to evict [VICTIM ] if she broke anything and needed to stop. Dustin advised he shut the door again, and [VICTIM ] still made entry. Dustin advised [VICTIM ] began taking glass photo frames off the walls and threw them somewhere upstairs. Dustin advised there was glass all upstairs. Dustin advised [VICTIM ] came downstairs and he observed law enforcement approaching, then came straight downstairs.
I observed red scratch marks near Dustin’s left armpit, several on his torso area, a large red mark on his left ribcage, and a small puncture scratch on his left arm near his shoulder.
Due to conflicting statements from [VICTIM ] and Dustin and originally interviewed [REDACTED] with [VICTIM ] present, I asked [VICTIM ] if I could speak with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] outside privately. [VICTIM ] consented.
I spoke with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] outside with the interview including only me and him. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised he went to the park today and returned . [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised when Dustin got from work, he was sitting in the living room, watching television with [VICTIM ]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated Dustin came inside, hugged [VICTIM ], grabbed his keys, and went outside. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated when Dustin came back inside, Dustin “was on the other side.” I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] what he meant by that. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated Dustin was being very mean for no reason. I asked [REDACTED] how was Dustin being mean. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised Dustin began questioning [VICTIM ] about her whereabouts in his truck. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated [VICTIM ] was quiet and Dustin became mad. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated Dustin took [VICTIM ] into the kitchen. I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] how did Dustin take [VICTIM ] into the kitchen. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised they were at the front door, where [VICTIM ] was trying to leave, but Dustin would not let her. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised Dustin started shoving [VICTIM ] into the kitchen.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised he could not see what was occurring inside the kitchen because he did not get up from the couch. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised he did see [VICTIM ] on the ground in the kitchen and stated Dustin also pushed [VICTIM ] to the ground in the living room and upstairs. I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] what happened next. I told [REDACTED BY AGENCY] he needed to be very detailed because I was not present during the argument. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] explained [VICTIM ] grabbed Dustin by the belt when she was on the floor, then Dustin pushed her off of him. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated Dustin “grabbed right here”, while placing one hand over his throat, demonstrating Dustin’s actions, then pushed her. I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] what occurred upstairs. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised [VICTIM ] tried to get into the room while he was talking to Dustin, but Dustin shoved [VICTIM ] out of the room and locked the door. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised there was a picture upstairs that was broken. I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] how did the picture get broken. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated, “Mom ([VICTIM ]) threw it down…when she…Mom, whenever, umm, whenever Mom got shoved back she ran into the wall”, causing the picture frame to fall.
I relocated inside of the residence and met with [VICTIM ]. I advised [VICTIM ] to walk with me upstairs so I can observe possible damaged items.
Once upstairs, I observed three picture frames on the ground with shattered glass near the bedroom door where Dustin and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] were in. I also observed a long black electrical cord on the ground. I also observed a single earring loop on the ground at the top of the stairs.
I asked [VICTIM ] if she could tell me what occurred upstairs. [VICTIM ] advised Dustin and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] were in [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s room. [VICTIM ] advised she used the black electrical cord to unlock the door. Once the door was unlocked, [VICTIM ] stated Dustin began to shove her and push her out of the room. I asked [VICTIM ] how did the picture frames shatter on the floor. [VICTIM ] advised Dustin pushed her up against the wall where the picture frame were and that is why her earring is near the same wall. [VICTIM ] kept saying, “I don’t know.”
Due to [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s statements and [VICTIM ]’s injuries to her throat area, I determined Dustin to be the predominant aggressor. I placed Dustin under arrest for Aggravated Assault FVA (choking/strangulation), Simple Battery FVA (shoving/pushing), and Cruelty to Children 3rd Degree. Dustin was secured to the rear in double-locked handcuffs, which were checked for proper fit. Dustin was ed incident-to-arrest, which yielded no contraband. Dustin was transported to Carroll County Sheriff’s Office for processing and housing.
[VICTIM ] was provided a case card, case number, and resources with phone numbers for victims for domestic violence cases. [VICTIM ] was made aware of these services.
Carroll County warrants against Dustin for Aggravated Assault FVA, Simple Battery FVA, and Cruelty to Children 3rd Degree have been completed and awaits a judge’s signature.
Photographs of [VICTIM ]’s injuries, Dustin’s injuries, and items observed upstairs, including the broken photo frames, earring, and black electrical cord, have been uploaded to this report under “Other Images.”
