On 08/14/24 I responded to [SINGLE DIGIT BLOCK] Fair Hope Ln around 1805hrs regarding a strangulation which occurred at [1400 BLOCK] Habersham St. around 1630hrs.
The reporting party [VICTIM ] stated that his son David Fletcher Vaughn III assaulted him by means of strangulation and with a chair. Mr. [VICTIM ] stated that he went to check on his son because he was told that he was robbed and beaten. Mr. [VICTIM ] stated he believe this was possibly a result of a bad drug deal. Mr. [VICTIM ] stated he offered to get David into a rehab center or some mental health resources, but David became upset and aggressive towards him. According to Mr. [VICTIM ], David got a chair and began striking him with it. I observed defensive wounds on Mr. [VICTIM ] arms. David then struck Mr. [VICTIM ] in the face with his fist. I observed redness on Mr. [VICTIM ] face, abdomen, back, and neck area. At some point David stopped attacking Mr. [VICTIM ] and demanded him to have a seat on the couch, so they could talk it out. Then out of nowhere, David began making verbal threats of harm. According to Mr. [VICTIM ], David stated “I’m going to get a knife and cut your throat open and watch you bleed out.”
After hearing this, Mr. [VICTIM ] attempted to get out of the house and leave. As Mr. [VICTIM ] was walking past the kitchen area and making his way to the front door, David grabbed him and prevented him from leaving by placing both his hands on Mr. [VICTIM ] throat. According to Mr. [VICTIM ], David was applying extreme pressure as he was strangulating him, that Mr. [VICTIM ] could see the veins popping out of David’s Face. Mr. [VICTIM ] stated he felt as if he was going to pass out. Mr. [VICTIM ] was able to reach a wooden broom which he used to force David off of him. Mr. [VICTIM ] stated he grasped the broomstick with both arms, placed it on David’s neck, and began to push him away from him.
Mr. [VICTIM ] stated David then let go and stated, “I’ll be back, I’m going upstairs to get something”. Mr. [VICTIM ] stated he then took advantage of this and ran out the house. Once outside, as Mr. [VICTIM ] was attempting to get into his truck, David once again stopped him and attempted to take away his keys. Mr. [VICTIM ] stated he purposely began making a commotion in an attempt to get someone’s attention. This action caused David to let him go. Mr. [VICTIM ] was able to get free and drive away. Mr. [VICTIM ] stated he believed his phone was left behind and damaged. He then drove to Eisenhower Dr/Skidaway Rd and used a stranger’s phone to his wife. Mr. [VICTIM ] Then went and called police.
According to Mr. [VICTIM ] David has been served with an eviction notice which is set to take effect 08/26/24. Mr. [VICTIM ] also advised that David possibly might have firearms in the residence.
