Reporters sister Kerry Long can be warm and friendly, very convincing and manipulative. However, her temper when triggered is frightening and explosive.
[WITNESS #1] received a letter in the mail from her mom’s bank account requesting her signature be added to a form her sister has signed adding her to the account. [WITNESS #1] and Kerry have joint POA, however for the past three years [WITNESS #1] has managed her mom’s finances. [WITNESS #1] understands she has a legal right to be added. [WITNESS #1]’s concern is two withdrawals have happened totaling $3,600.00 and Venmo has been added to the account.
The victim, [VICTIM #1] has Medicare, her medicine is drafted monthly from her account, and [WITNESS #1] has mailed the check for her December and January rent her facility. [WITNESS #1] is concerned her sister is using the money for herself and not for her mom. [VICTIM #1] is in [REDACTED BY AGENCY], very far along on the [REDACTED BY AGENCY].
[WITNESS #1] suspects her sister may have opened credit cards as well. [WITNESS #1] received a letter from the bank requesting her signature and could see her sister had been added as POA so I got onto the app and checked the balance. This is when I noticed the withdrawal. A few weeks ago I received a letter declining my mom from receiving a credit card that I had NOT applied for it stated she couldn’t receive because of bad credit. So I ran a credit report, it showed two cards one with a balance of zero the other a balance of over $5000. I then froze my mom’s credit in hopes it would protect her.
