On September 18, 2024
, at 1717 hours, I was assigned to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Traffic Division. I was wearing an assigned uniform from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office with the badge clearly displayed and driving a marked Patrol vehicle unit # 827.
I was dispatched to a hit and run accident on Houston Lake Rd at its intersection with Mount Zion Rd. Prior to my arrival Dispatch advised a white Honda Odyssey struck a vehicle, did not stop and continued on Houston Lake Rd. Dispatch received another call in reference to the Honda. The Honda was traveling on Cohen Walker Dr. The Honda struck a trashcan, set the grass on fire due to the right front tire being damaged. The Honda turned on Karl Dr. The Honda pulled into the Rigby’s Entertainment center. The Honda parked in a parking spot and caught on fire. Upon arriving Houston County Fire had the fire out.
WITH YORK:
I made with the driver/offender Anita York. I asked her what happened. She told me she was trying to pick up her grandkids. York did not know she hit a car and a trashcan. I asked York where she was. She told me she was at [REDACTED]’s Hay Hay party. As I was talking to York, I could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person, and her eyes were blood shot and watery. I asked her if she had anything to drink. She stated earlier this morning. I asked York if she is taking any medications. York told me she takes several medications for anxiety. I asked York for her grandkid’s names. York was not able to tell me the names of her grandkid’s.
Due to York being in an accident, I had Houston EMS check York out. EMS arrived and advised York had very low O2 levels. EMS also stated they could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming off of her person. EMS believed York was an alcoholic. EMS started asking York questions. Based on York’s answers they advised York was going to have to be admitted into the hospital.
Based on the evidence while talking to York and the evidence of driving, I believed York was under the influence. A warrant for the first blood draw from the medical center was obtained. I made with the medical center. The medical staff gave me the results of the blood draw. York’s blood came back with an alcohol level of 234.4 mg/.234g. York also had .2 mg of marijuana in her system as well.
Based on the results I will be seeking warrants on the following charges: Failure to maintain lane, DUI multiple substances, hit and run, duty to repot accident, suspended license, and criminal trespass damage.
