On Friday, September 6th, 2024
, at 1903 hours, I was dispatched to [20 BLOCK] Penny Lane, in Cartersville, Georgia, in reference to a domestic in progress.
Upon arrival, I spoke with [VICTIM ]. [VICTIM ] said that she was laying in her bed trying to sleep when Brian Sarlan came into the room and began arguing with her. [VICTIM ] said that Brian had grabbed a pillow and put it over her face where she starting fighting him to get him off of her and then said Brain grabbed her. I asked [VICTIM ] if she was able to breath and she said yes because she fought Brian off of her. [VICTIM ] said she defended herself by grabbing and kicking to get Brian off of her. While speaking with [VICTIM ], I observed a fresh superficial injury on her right forearm which was bleeding. [VICTIM ] said she obtained this injury from Brian during the altercation.
I then spoke with Brian. Brian said that [VICTIM ] was laying in the bed and he grabbed a pillow and put it by her face. He said that he did grab [VICTIM ] and [VICTIM ] began defending herself. Brain said that the start of the altercation was his fault. I did observed injury on Brian which appeared to be scratch marks obtained from [VICTIM ] while she was defending herself.
Brain and [VICTIM ] have been married for approximately 25 years.
Photographs of all injuries were taken on the bodyworn camera of 954.
Due to Brian placing the pillow over [VICTIM ]’s face in a way that could restrict her breathing and cause death, and Brian causing a superficial injury on [VICTIM ], Brian was placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault and Battery under the Family Violence Act and transported to The Bartow County Detention Center without incident.
