Discretion is advised.]On January 12th, 2025at approximately 2151 hours, I Deputy Geldmeier was dispatched to the area of [4600 BLOCK] Kings Highway in Douglas County, Georgia in reference to a toned call where a male had pulled a knife on the complainant. We were informed the male (Edward Liggins) left the residence on foot. I was given a description of the male which stated it was a black male, black hoodie, black backpack, and white reflective shoes.I arrived in the area and patrolled attempting to locate the male. I patrolled the area of Kings Highway and Dorsett Shoals Rd and many side streets with no . I was about to leave the area and was traveling east on Dorsett Shoals Rd approached the red-light at Kings Highway. While approaching the red-light, I observed a male in the parking lot of the Kings Food Mart Gas Station (4661 Kings Highway) who matched the description of the given lookout. I asked Douglas County Dispatch to confirm the lookout and asked Deputy Chittam 66 to respond to my location. This male was later identified as Edward Liggins. Edward observed my marked patrol car 3 and turned around in and went inside the store. I began pulling into the parking lot and Edward had walked back out the front door walking north toward the dumpster on the side of the building.I pulled up toward the dumpster and began exiting my patrol vehicle. As I stepped out of my patrol vehicle, Edward took off running on foot heading west bound parallel to Dorsett Shoals Rd through the backyard of address [6100 BLOCK] Dorsett Shoals Rd. I pursued Edward on foot and instructed him to stop. Upon reaching the fence to [6100 BLOCK] Dorsett Shoals Rd, I observed Edward disappear into the back yard through an open gate. At this time, I remained at the gate ensuring Edward did not leave and remained here until other units arrived on scene. While waiting for backup, I heard something shut as if Edward had gotten inside of something. I observed a shed in the back yard and believed he could have entered the building. Lt Cadwell and Deputy Chittam arrived on scene and cleared the back yard and storage building and did not locate Edward.Lt Cadwell deployed his k-9 (Neo) to track Edward and I assisted as backup. Neo had tracked for several minutes and kept returning to the back yard of [6100 BLOCK] Dorsett Shoals Rd. Neo continued to the carport just outside of the gate and Lt Cadwell informed Deputy Chittam and I to check the vehicle and trash can. The vehicle was checked and Edward was not located. Upon ing the trash can at the south end of the fence, Edward was located inside and taken into custody without incident.Edward was charged with aggravated assault and obstruction.[End of Narrative].
