On 08/02/2024, at approximately 12:23 PM, dispatch advised of an accident with unknown injuries in the area of Ragsdale Road and Trickum Road. Shortly after, dispatch provided updates the suspect driver was leaving the scene in a 2010 white Acura TL (Georgia tag: [REDACTED]). Additional updates advised the suspect was a black male with dreads and on Ragsdale Terrace. While enroute, I checked the vehicle’s registration via GCIC, learning it was suspended.
I responded to the dead-end of Ragsdale Terrace and made contact with the male, later identified as Isaiah King who was standing outside the suspect vehicle. Isaiah’s Acura had disabling front-end damage, a deployed airbag, and was smoking. Isaiah told me he came to the dead-end intentionally to get out of traffic. Isaiah said he was turning left into a neighborhood where he was going to deliver packages when the crash with the other vehicle occurred. I placed Isaiah under arrest for hit and run, securing him in handcuffs behind his back. I checked the handcuffs for proper fit and double locked them.
I met with Deputy Hackard who provided me with the other information regarding the crash. I transported Isaiah to the Cherokee Adult Detention Center without incident. Upon arrival, I relinquished custody of him to jail staff. I completed necessary incoming paperwork to include Citations S-021507 through S-021509 charging him for failing to yield when turning left, hit and run, and suspended registration.
I called the two 911 callers to obtain their information. I spoke with [WITNESS #1] who said she turned left onto Ragsdale just after the crash occurred. She observed a white sedan with a crushed front end. The sedan flew up on her rear bumper and passed her on the double yellow two lane road. She observed it turn onto Ragsdale Terrace and called 911 to report it.
[WITNESS #2] told me she was driving down Ragsdale Road towards Trickum when she saw a white Acura leaving the scene after the crash. She said the Acura got behind her so she stopped to keep it from running away. She said the Acura had to back up and turn around, leaving the scene towards Highway 92.
A GEARS report was completed.
