On 7/4/2024
at or around 1253 hours I responded [3500 BLOCK] Kings Court in reference to a domestic dispute.
Upon my arrival I met with the victim, [VICTIM ]. Upon first seeing [VICTIM ], I noticed that her left eye was swollen shut and that there was blood her eye. The swelling was extensive and I felt that EMS needed to respond to the scene to offer medical treatment. [VICTIM ] said that she invited her ex-boyfriend over to her residence today, so that he could spend time with their son for the holiday. She identified him as Carlos Figueroa. She said that Carlos does not live with her. She said that she has custody of their son. She said that Carlos was in the other room playing his game and suddenly got upset out of nowhere. She said that he began arguing with her for no reason. She said at one point Carlos spit in her face. She said that she did throw the remote control at and told him he had no right to spit in her face for no reason. She said that he got even more upset and kept arguing with her. She said that she went to sit at the kitchen table. She said several moments later, Carlos sucker punched her. She said that she fell out of the chair and landed on the trash can. She said that she became dizzy, and that her daughter helped her back to her feet. She said that he struck her with a closed fist.
I returned to my patrol car and pulled up Carlos on the BCSO jail file. I went back to [VICTIM ] and asked to speak to her daughter. She confirmed that she was 12 years old. I asked her what happened today. She said almost verbatim what [VICTIM ] did. [VICTIM ] identified her daughter as [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and her son as [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. She confirmed that the incident took place in front of both of them. Her oldest son was in his room when the incident took place. [VICTIM ] said that Carlos was apologetic and left the scene prior to me getting on scene. I showed her a picture of Carlos on the BCSO jail file and she confirmed who I was looking at was Carlos. I explained to her how to get a TPO and how to the Crisis Line to assist her with this incident as well. She said that she did wish to pursue charges on Carlos.
EMS responded to the residence and recommended [VICTIM ] to go to the hospital to have a CT scan done for her eye injury. I took [VICTIM ] and her kids to the Coliseum Hospital and escorted them inside.
I will be obtaining an arrest warrant on Carlos for battery (Family Violence), and cruelty to children in the third degree (2 counts – Family Violence).
