The complainant ([WITNESS ], the store clerk) reported a dispute, in which one of the parties discharged a firearm several times. They reported the suspect left in a red pickup truck, westbound on Hwy 16.At that time, I was in Turin, on S. Hunter St near Hwy 16. I observed a white pickup truck, followed by a red pickup truck, turn from Hwy 16 westbound. The red truck matched the description given by the complainant, and our distance from the store was consistent with the approximately time it would have taken for the complainant to call 911, pass the information to the dispatcher, and for me to be dispatched.I followed the trucks, and observed them pull into the driveway at [100 BLOCK] Turin Rd. I activated my cruise lights and stopped behind them. The occupants of the white truck exited and walked to the rear of the house.I approached the red truck and spoke with the driver, later identified as WILLIAM T TURNER, 17 yoa. I asked him what had happened at the store. He admitted there had been an incident, which he described as follows: Mr. Turner and his passenger ([WITNESS ], 18 yoa), along with the other truck, had been at the store getting gas. An unknown black make had approached Mr. [WITNESS ], apparently upset and yelling at him. The male tried to strike Mr. [WITNESS ], and they got into a physical altercation. Mr. [WITNESS ] restrained the subject, and disengaged as soon as he could.Mr. Turner and Mr. [WITNESS ] got into their truck and began leaving. Mr. [WITNESS ] reported hearing a single gunshot, then two more a few seconds later. They left the area, headed west on Hwy 16.I asked Mr. Turner if there were any firearms in the truck. He stated there were not. I asked him to step out, then began a pat down of his person. I located a pistol on his right hip, in the waistband of his jeans (no holster). I removed the pistol and placed Mr. Turner in handcuffs. The pistol was a Smith and Wesson SD9VE, ser# FYC4374. It had several rounds in the magazine, but did NOT have one in the chamber. I was not able to confirm it had been fired recently (there was no fresh odor consistent with being fired).I removed Mr. [WITNESS ] from the truck and placed him in handcuffs. I ed his person and the truck interior, but did not locate any additional weapons.I placed Mr. Turner in my patrol car, and released Mr. [WITNESS ] from the handcuffs. I asked Mr. [WITNESS ] what had happened, and he relayed the same story as Mr. Turner.Deputy Klein responded to my location as backup. He spoke with the occupants of the white truck [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. They reported a similar story as my subjects had. All claimed they didn’t know who the black male was, or why he was upset.Deputy Klein responded to Frazier’s to speak with the complainant, Mr. [WITNESS ]. Deputy Klein reported to me later that Mr. [WITNESS ] did not witness the actual incident, but a customer had relayed the information to him.I transported Mr. Turner to the Coweta County jail without incident. I turned him over to the jail personnel, and completed the booking paperwork, charging him with Carrying a Concealed Weapon, 16-11-126. The firearm was placed into Evidence.[End of Narrative].
