On August 28 2024
, at approximately 1020 Hours, I was working in full uniform, driving a fully marked patrol vehicle within the county of Carroll. I was identified to Carroll County E911 as “905”. I was dispatched to 1217 Rockmart Rd, Villa Rica for an Aggravated Assault
Initial dispatch was that a female complainant said that her vehicle was fired upon when she went to a male’s residence to collect on a loan. Call notes listed the offender’s name as Alonzo Arnold, as per the complainant.
I activated my Emergency Equipment and responded with due regard to the scene. When I arrived I spoke to Stephanie Farmer and Christopher Brooks. Stephanie said that she spoke to Alonzo on the phone shortly before arriving at his address which was later identified as [100 BLOCK] Ledbetter Road. she said that during this conversation Alonzo agreed to pay her back the $1200 owe to her.
Stephanie went on to say that when she arrived Alonzo met her in the front yard. She said that Alonzo ordered her to leave or she would be fired upon. Stephanie told me that she briefly argued with Alonzo in saying that he invited her there and that he owes her money. Stephanie he said it was around this time that Alonzo opened fire with a black duty-style semiautomatic handgun multiple times. Stephanie said that is when she got back in the vehicle where Christopher Brooks was and remained a passenger and fled the area to the current location.
Christopher Brooks said the same version of events. He said that he never exited the vehicle and remain in the passenger seat the whole time. Approximately 20 minutes later, Christopher changed his story to say that when Alonso started opening fire, he jumped over the center console into the driver’s seat and left. Christopher went on to say that while leaving Stephanie jumped in the rear passenger side of the vehicle due to the gunfire and effort to retreat.
While obtaining the initial information I was notified by Dispatch that the alleged offender Alonzo Arnold had dialed 911 to report a burglary. I asked dispatch to hold all information while I made the appropriate notifications and waited for backup units. I took photographs of the vehicle and notified my supervisor, Sergeant Hutcheson of all information known up to this point. Sgt Hutcheson directed me to remain on scene with Stephanie and Christopher and await the arrival of him and CID.
I observed approximately 14 handgun caliber bullet holes, on many parts of the vehicle, which was a 2023 Nissan Altima GA [REDACTED]. the passenger side mirror was also notably damaged as well as front and rear windshield.
Upon the arrival of investigator Webb, she reported that Deputy Tyler Davidson was on scene at [100 BLOCK] Ledbetter with Alonzo Arnold and that there was possibly conflicting information at that scene. I remained on scene with Stephanie and Christopher while waiting for further developments from Investigator Webb. She reported back to the scene a short time later and had a surveillance video displaying Christopher holding a large shotgun with removable magazine and appearing to have entered the and exited from the rear. The video appears to be from this same event as Christopher was wearing the same outfit seen in the video, black T-shirt, light colored shorts, and black shoes.
The activity displayed in the video does not line up with the versions of events as provided by both Stephanie and Christopher. It was around this time that Investigator Webb interviewed both Stephanie and Christopher beginning with Stephanie. After some further investigation, Investigator Webb directed me to take Christopher into custody. I handcuffed Christopher to the rear while ensuring a fingers with spacing between the bar of the handcuffs and his wrist. I ensured double lock and Placed Christopher in the rear of my cruiser. Stephanie was also placed under arrest, and placed in the rear of Sgt. Hutcheson. Stephaine was then turned over to Dep. Powell who transported her to the Carroll County Jail.
Prior to the arrest Carroll County Public Works was notified to be on route to remove Stephanie’s vehicle to be taken to lower level evidence. The vehicle was removed without incident and transported to lower level evidence Bay 6.
Christopher was transported to Carroll County Jail and turned over to booking staff without incident. Christopher is currently charged with aggravated assault. I checked the rear my cruiser at the conclusion of this arrest.
