On Sunday November 26, 2023 at approximately 0042 hours I, Sgt Rickert, responded to [100 BLOCK] Lokchapee Landing in reference to a person down.
Upon arrival, I noticed a male laying on the ground face down and a firearm laying by the top left of his head. I checked the male for a pulse, which he did not have one and was unresponsive. Ems arrived on scene and took over medical attention. The unknown male had a bullet wound to the left chest area. The scene was secured and taped off by deputies. I ed the area with other deputies on scene for any witnesses or shell casings. An open door was locked at the end of the apartment complex. We ed the apartment for any suspects or people inside the apartment. The drivers license found in the apartment matched the victim that had been shot. We also located several vehicles that had been involved in an Entering Auto. The vehicles had been left unlocked and the interior had been rummaged through. I notified a persons investigator and also called for the crime lab.
Investigator Sgt. Kent arrived on scene and turned over to him. Crime Lab Tech Kirkland also arrived on scene.
