On the 17th of July 2024
, at 0522 hours, I was dispatched to a kid left in a vehicle in Garden City, Chatham County, Georgia 31408.
Complainant: [REDACTED].
[REDACTED] stated she lives in Little Rock, Arkansas, when she received a phone call from Zavian Eyiuche, the father of her grandson. [REDACTED] stated that Zavian was arrested and had left his kid (Juvenile 1 J1) in the car, and he needed someone to pick him up. [REDACTED] stated she was in Arkansas so she was not able to be there in a short time. [REDACTED] stated she then called 911 to start the for J1.
It should be noted that in CRN 240717003, Zavian Eyiuche was arrested, and I transported him to the Chatham County Jail. Zavian did not ever mention having a son or having a juvenile in his possession. I went to the Chatham County Jail and spoke with Zavian.
Zavian stated that J1 was with his baby’s mother’s aunt, but he did not know the aunt’s name. When I asked Zavian where the aunt lived, he stated he did not know. I asked Zavian where he lived, and he stated he did not know. He was also less and slept in his car in parking lots. Zavian stated he woke up in the Wood Spring Suites parking lot before being placed under arrest on 7/17/24. I asked if he left Wood Spring Suites with J1 today before being placed under arrest, and he stated yes.
I asked Zavian where the aunt lived, and he stated some apartments, but he did not know. After a back-and-forth and multiple phone calls at the Jail, I attempted to use Google Maps to help refresh Zavian’s memory. I showed Zavian where he was arrested and the location, to which he stated it was near the arrest location. Zavian then saw the apartment complex of The Retreat at Garden Lakes and stated that it was there that he had taken J1.
I asked Zavian what kind of vehicle he drove, and he stated that it was a dark gray Chevrolet Cruize with an Arkansas plate ([REDACTED]). Zavian then stated that J1 was inside the vehicle and that someone was supposed to pick up J1, but he was unsure if anyone had done so. I then advised officers of what vehicle to look for and where. Ofc Smith advised he found the vehicle with J1 still inside.
I left the jail and arrived at the scene with other officers. Chatham EMS did a vital check of J1 and advised he was not required to be transported to the hospital. I used a handheld thermometer to check the inside temperature of the vehicle, which read at 95 degrees F, 15 degrees hotter than outside. Ofc. Smith advised J1 was clammy and appeared to be dehydrated. Inside the vehicle, in plain view, there was a Don Julio bottle, a gallon of water, and clothes. J1 had also defecated and urinated on himself. In J1’s car seat was a white cup; inside was a light liquid that had an odor of alcohol emitting.
In conclusion, Lt. Rodriguez was ed and arrived at the scene. Ofc. Thompson ed DFCS (see supplemental). Photographs of the vehicle were captured. The vehicle was left at the scene. Warrants for Zavian are in progress.
