James Beneke was dispatched to the area of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Octavia Place for the report of shots fired. I activated my body worn camera and drove to this location.While driving to this location 911 advised the caller wanted to be anonymous, but reported an unknown B/M had fired several shots in the air from a White in color Honda and this unknown subject had turned towards Eastgate Apts. When units arrived in the area they began to patrol looking for a White Honda with a B/M driver, however there were several White vehicles in the area with no drivers.I arrived at Octavia Place with other officers and started asking questions of subjects sitting on porches. [REDACTED BY AGENCY]eported she had witnessed this incident. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said an unknown B/M was parked at the dead end of Octavia Place in a Silver in color single cab pickup. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said as this unknown B/M started driving towards Dodson St when 3 unknown B/M’s who were standing on the even side of the street of Octavia Place started talking to the driver. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said she couldn’t hear exactly what the 3 B/M’s were saying to the B/M in the Silver pickup but she assumes they were arguing.[REDACTED BY AGENCY] said the driver of the Silver pickup almost hit a brown in color Honda Pilot that was parked at the side of the road while talking to the 3 B/M’s. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said the driver of the Silver pickup put his hand out the window while holding a gun and fired several rounds in the air. When [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was asked if the driver pointed the weapon at anybody and fired, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said he just fired into the air. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said she didn’t see where the Silver pickup went after firing, and the 3 B/M’s also left the area.Officers started walking Octavia Place in the area where [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said the driver had shot in the air. Lt. White, Cpl. Phillips, and I were able to find 5 spent .9mm shell casings on the ground, the casings were documented in photographs and then collected to be entered in Newnan Police Department evidence. I then spoke with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] I will log the recovered spent .9mm casings into Newnan Police Department.[End of Narrative].
