I responded to Jalapenos with other officers regarding a fight that just occured at Marco’s Pizza. While on scene, Officer Gancarcik advised she was speaking with either a witness or victim, and the offender description was a black male, white t-shirt, and some type of ID card hanging from his waist. While waiting on further Information, an employee from Jalapenos approached Sgt. Morrow and let him know there was an issue inside with a patron unwilling to pay his tab. When this subject was pointed out to us, we realized this person matched the description of the Marco’s Pizza offender, so he was asked to step outside.
It was immediately obvious this person, Narada Kelson, was very intoxicated. This was made manifest by unsteadiness on his feet, swaying, and slurred speech. His state of intoxication was further evident when he started calling officers names, making lude gestures, and using profanity in full view of the public. These included the following:
-“Pecerwood” multiple times -“Cracker” multiple times -“Fuk you too”
-“Suck a dik” -“White, young, motherfukers”
-Held his arms out and appeared to be humping the air
He was told to leave by Sgt. Morrow and reluctantly walked away from us. Officers walked back towards our vehicles, however Mr. Kelson walked towards us and reengaged, request help to find his cell phone [I believe]. He quickly became antagonistic again with officers.
At that point, I asked if he would like for me to call him a cab, to which he said yes. However, what little diplomacy existed at that time seemd to fall apart when I asked if he had a preference on cab company. I had to repeat my question multiple times for him. Realizing I was not getting anywhere with my questions, I stepped back and allowed Sgt. Morrow to continue speaking with him.
Kelson then said “He looks like he sucks dik.” He was speaking about one of us, but he apparently refering to me. “I’m a black niger around one, two, three, four [unintelligable] cracker as motherfukers man” Kelson said, refering to each of the officers standing there. Mr. Kelson then made sure we were aware he voted for Trump. I asked for his address, and explained that the cab company would not respond without a destination. He refused to provide and address, then started talking about Ukraine and other unrelated issues.
Sgt. Morrow tried to obtain his address for the cab company, but he would not provide it to him either.
The drunken rambling continue for a few more moments until he pointed to me and said “you ain’t sht, bald head motherfuker” and “take that sht off…and I’ll beat your as. I’ll beat your as.” I told Mr. Kelson he was under arrest. As I reached for him, he tried stepping away from me, but was taken into custody without further incident. Post arrest, he said he was just “talking sht.” Given the totatlity of the circumstances, I decided to charge him under city ordinances:
54-7 Disorderly Conduct: threats against a police officer
54-1 Pubilc Drunkeness: for all of the above
He was transported to CCDC.
