Upon arrival, I met with [VICTIM ] who said that her son, John Langford, attacked her.[VICTIM ] said that John came about an ago, was drunk, and began fussing and yelling at her in a rage. During this, John was keeping the front door open and it had become very cold in the apartment. [VICTIM ] tried to close the front door but John shoved her into the wall, grabbing and twisting her right arm, and twisting the fingers on left hand. [VICTIM ] said that she was holding a lit cigarette in her left hand and when John grabbed her, the cigarette burnt his right hand. She told him that she was going to call 911 and he left on foot. [VICTIM ] also said that John had taken the keys to her vehicle with him.[VICTIM ] was trembling and her voice shaking while I was speaking with her. I could see redness and slight abrasions on her right arm where John grabbed her. On her left hand, her middle finger knuckle was swollen and some of the skin was peeled back. It should be noted that [VICTIM ] is about 79 years old and appears quite frail. She refused medical attention at this time. I filled out a domestic violence lethality sheet with [VICTIM ] and she did screen in. I took photos of [VICTIM ]’s injuries and attached them to this report. I issued and explained to [VICTIM ] an LPD case card. While I was speaking with [VICTIM ], other officers located John at the second entrance to the complex. I relocated to their location and spoke with John. John said that when he got [VICTIM ] suddenly attacked and tried to choke him at the front door. He said that she jabbed a lit cigarette at him and burned him on his right hand. He showed me a picture he took right after she burned him, and the picture showed what appeared to be black ashes on his right hand between the thumb and pointer finger. He then showed me his hand and I could see a small grey discoloration in the same spot, but no visible injury. I asked John how [VICTIM ] was injured and he said that she was not injured. I asked him if he had tried to defend himself at all from her and he said that he did not touch her at any point. I took photos of John and attached them to this report. When officers were first ing for John, he was seen near the entrance wearing a backpack, when they finally located him, he had removed the backpack. He claimed to have not had a backpack at all while I was speaking with him, but officers later located his grey and orange backpack in the woods near where he was walking. I asked John if he had taken [VICTIM ]’s keys when he left, and he repeatedly said that he did not have any keys at all in his possession. Upon ing him, there was a set of keys in his pocket, though were not [VICTIM ]’s.Based on [VICTIM ]’s statements, the physical evidence, previous incidents involving John in which he was arrested for Battery FVA (see case 023084952), that he appeared to have been attempting to evade officers, and that he told multiple lies to officers, I find John Langford to be the predominant aggressor in this case. I informed John that he was under arrest, handcuffed him to the rear, checked the cuffs for tightness, double locked the cuffs, ed him incident to arrest, placed him in the rear of my patrol car, and secured the seatbelt. I transported him to the Troup County Jail and placed him into their custody. I secured warrants against John Langford for Battery FVA OCGA 16-5-23.1 and for Abuse to an Elderly Person OCGA 16-5-102.[End of Narrative].
