On 08/12/24 at 23:33 hours, I, Officer Opitz, was dispatched to 1601 Watson Blvd., HHC, in reference to a stabbing that occurred at 10136 N Hwy 247, Circle K.
The victim, Ms. [VICTIM ], called 911 and arrived at HHC just after I did. Upon her arrival, medical staff began to render aid to her. Ms. [VICTIM ] advised that the knife was in the door, at which point medical staff pulled the knife out of the door. Officer Holbrook stood by with the vehicle GA tag [REDACTED]. After Ms. [VICTIM ] received medical aid, I spoke to her.
Ms. [VICTIM ] reported that she left her residence at [600 BLOCK] Fieldstone Rd. She stated that she and Mr. Canton had ended their relationship and she was taking him to an unknown location in Macon. She said she had to stop for gas at 10136 N Hwy 247. She stated that once there, Mr. Canton began threatening her and pulled out a knife at the gas pumps. She stated that prior to pulling the knife, he put on one black glove on his right hand. She stated that she pulled up to call her sister in front of the store to get away. She said Mr. Canton then stabbed her once and put the knife to his own neck as if he was going to kill himself. Ms. [VICTIM ] was able to get the knife away and put it in the door, where medical staff located it.
Ms. [VICTIM ] said she left for Macon even after being stabbed. She realized the severity of her injuries and told Mr. Canton that she needed to go to the hospital. She didn’t want to, and attempted to jump out of the car twice. He had a box cutter in his hand and seemed to be acting as if he was cutting himself, although Ms. [VICTIM ] wasn’t sure if he actually did. She mentioned that once at HWY 247 and N Davis Dr. at the railroad track, he moved out of the car, so she stopped. He tried to grab another knife once she stopped, but she sped off and was unsure if he managed to get it. She later arrived at HHC.
Officer Jackson found Mr. Canton; please refer to his supplementary report for further information.
Photos were taken of the vehicle and of Ms. [VICTIM ], who only had the single stab wound to her upper right chest. Officer Hoolbrook followed the vehicle to HQ, where he logged it as evidence pending a warrant. Sgt. Mann was informed of this incident.
Once at HQ, I read Mr. Canton his Miranda rights. He refused to speak with me or sign the document. Warrants will be issued next for aggravated assault-FV.
