On Wednesday,November 6, 2024
, at approximately 1439Hrs I, Officer Steed, with the Jasper Police Department responded to the area of 1860 SR 53 in response to a white female yelling and screaming who appeared to be on drugs.
I checked the area and made with Kortnie Ledford, the female that matched the description. I know Kortnie to be the person who was called on due to an earlier event of her being a Dos Margaritas and not having the money to pay for the food and alcohol she ordered, Dos Margaritas did not want to press charges or do a criminal trespass, she was released from the scene.
I noticed while at Dos Margaritas Kortnie appeared to be on drugs but was not bad enough for me to warrant an arrest at the time. When I made with Kortnie this time approximately an hour later,I noticed her physically manifestationsto be more intense than the last time I met her. Kortnie pupils appeared to be bigger than normal for the time of day in direct sunlight, she had exaggerated reflexes, goosebumps, and her speech was sped up. All of these indicators match someone who could be under the influence of a stimulant.
Kortnie was arrested and transported to the Pickens County Jail and was initially going to be charged with pedestrians under the influence. After Kortnie was released to jail staff a jail staff worker asked me if I was going to take warrants or put the charge on a citation. I informed the jail staff worker I was going to take a warrant. The jail staff worker asked if I could put it on a city ordinance instead of a warrant. After reing the city ordinance, Disorderly Conduct under the city ordinance fits the elements of the crime that I observed. Kortnie was charged with Disorderly Conduct under the city ordinance.
