On 10 July 2024
, at 1718 hours, I was dispatched to [SINGLE DIGIT BLOCK] Bynan Way for a suicidal individual.
Upon arrival, I was advised the female individual, who was later identified as Nevaeh Harris, was upstairs locked in her room after making suicidal comments. I went upstairs and Harris met me right outside of her bedroom door stating she was fine. I began talking with Harris to ensure she was not going to harm herself or had suicidal ideations. During this interaction, Harris was visibly upset as she was crying, shaking, and yelling. Harris informed me that her father, [VICTIM ], was upset with her because she refused to share her location via cellphone with him prior to leaving the house. Harris attempted to slam the door in my face, but due to her concerning behavior and mentioning to me that she feels suicidal because of her father’s actions, I would not allow her to close the door.
I asked Harris if we could go downstairs and speak with EMS when they arrived, and she agreed. As Harris got to the bottom of the stairs she turns toward [VICTIM ] and screams “I hope you die you fat bas*ard” and continues to repeat this statement several times while walking toward him. I attempted to talk with Harris, but she once again started yelling, quickly walking toward [VICTIM ], and was about to pick up a basketball on the floor (presumably to throw it at him). Officer Velasquez and I attempted to de-escalate the situation by removing Harris from the kitchen area and taking her outside of the however, her behavior did not change. Harris was provided several opportunities and advised that if her behavior continued, she would be arrested for disorderly conduct.
Furthermore, I attempted to deescalate the situation once again by finding a common solution that Harris and [VICTIM ] both agreed to. Harris and [VICTIM ] both agreed to the solution of Harris going to her grandmother’s house. I went to my vehicle to get a CRN card and The Front Porch pamphlet because I believed it to be in the family’s best interest to receive help from outside resources. While outside at my vehicle, I could hear Harris yelling inside of the (inaudible words) and she refused to contain her behavior even after a solution was agreed upon. Harris was placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct and placed in handcuffs which were double checked for fit and double locked. Harris was ed and seat belted in prior to transport.
Harris was transported to CCDC and released to CCDC staff without further incident. My patrol vehicle was ed prior to and after transport with no contraband found. [VICTIM ] was provided a CRN card and explained how to obtain a report copy.
