On 09-27-2024
at approximately 0134 hours, I responded to the area of James Cemetery Rd. and GA Hwy 18 E. in reference to a report of a male having been shot. While en route dispatch advised, the victim stated he was shot at [100 BLOCK] Hardie Chapel Rd. by Kelly Cleary. Sgt. Johnson and Dep. Morris responded as well to assist.
On scene, I made with complainant, who was later identified as [VICTIM ], by his name and date of birth. While speaking with him it was revealed that he had a gunshot wound on his left upper thigh area. He stated there was a disagreement about the vehicle he was driving; he stated that [REDACTED] had given him the vehicle. A verbal altercation occurred between him and [REDACTED]. During the argument, [REDACTED] had jumped on the hood of the vehicle, and Cleary Sr. came out of the residence and fired multiple rounds at the vehicle. Two of the rounds struck the vehicle. One was in the front left fender and the second was in the driver side door. This round traveled through the door, and struck [VICTIM ] in the left upper leg. [VICTIM ] then fled the scene and ed dispatch.
In addition, while on scene, I made with [VICTIM ], who stated that she was an associates of the [REDACTED]’s and [VICTIM ]. She stated that she received a call from [VICTIM ] stating that he was going to pick up [REDACTED] and he wanted her to be on the phone with him. She stated that when he arrived an argument ensued and the phone line disconnected. [VICTIM ] then called back and stated that he had been shot by Cleary Sr. [VICTIM ] explained that [REDACTED] had given [VICTIM ] a Lincoln Town car. She advised that [REDACTED] was mad about it. I asked her how she was associated with them all. She stated that they were mutual friends from family friends over the years. I asked if she was in a relationship with [VICTIM ] she stated that she was not and that she would allow him and [REDACTED] to hang out at their house. She stated that if they needed to eat and sleep they could do it there.
While on scene, I processed the vehicle as best I could, due to the weather from the active hurricane. While doing so I observed a small yellow bag between the hood and windshield. A review of the contents of the bag revealed a glass pipe and a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.
I photographed the scene, and collected the evidence. Stan’s Wrecker Service was ed, and arrived to tow the vehicle. Which was taken to the Sheriff’s office for processing. The evidence collected was later stored at the Jones Co. S.O. for identification.
A short time later Inv. Gleaton arrived at the office. He, Sgt. Johnson, and I went to [100 BLOCK] Hardie Chapel Rd. to interview the Cleary’s, however, no one answered the door. We then Returned to the to duty.
The male Cleary’s were later located at [100 BLOCK] Woodland Dr. ([VICTIM ]’ Residence.) and subsequently arrested. Evidence was also collected from this residence and stored at the Jones Co. S.O.
This case remains active pending further investigation.
