On 8/09/2024
, at 2218 hours, I was dispatched to [200 BLOCK] Harmony Grove Church Road in reference to a dispute. Upon arrival, we made with Paula Pittman. Ms. Pittman was upset because her mother wouldn’t give her a ride to Jasper. She was yelling, using profanity at times, and acting erratic.
We then spoke with [REDACTED], who stated that his daughter wanted a ride to Jasper to argue with her husband, but they wouldn’t give her a ride. Mr. [REDACTED] stated that Ms. Pittman was using profanity and calling them names. Ms. Pittman was intoxicated and admitted to drinking a six-pack.
We repeatedly told Ms. Pittman to go inside the , but she kept coming back outside. I explained to Ms. Pittman that I was going to call the Georgia Crisis Line due to her erratic behavior. As I attempted to call Georgia Crisis Line, Ms. Pittman walked down the front porch stairs and smacked her dad on the back side of his head.
I handcuffed Ms. Pittman behind her back, ensuring the proper fit of the handcuffs by inserting my index finger between the handcuffs and wrist along with double locking. I explained to Ms. Pittman she was under arrest for family violence. Ms. Pittman stated that she didn’t smack her dad. I told Ms. Pittman that I had watched her do it. Ms. Pittman stated that her handcuffs were too tight and hurting her wrist. I explained to Ms. Pittman that I checked the handcuffs.
I transported Ms. Pittman to the Paulding County Jail for her charge of simple battery family violence against someone 65 and older. Ms. Pittman’s handcuffs were checked at the jail and were not too tight on her. I checked the back seat of my patrol vehicle and found no weapons or contraband. A warrant will be secured for Ms. Pittman’s arrest on 8/10/2024
